Harmonic Estimation in Power Signals Using a Filter Bank and an Adaptive Filter

A method is proposed that uses a filter bank and an adaptive filter for the harmonic estimation in power signals. Here the amplitudes and frequencies of each harmonic is estimated. A fundamental filter bank (FB) decomposes the input power signal into sub signals and multistage FB is used for higher order harmonic decomposition. An adaptive filter is used to estimate the parameters more accurately. Parameters describing the harmonic components are estimated from the output of the adaptive filter which is self-tuning.
